Who we are
PrepProviders is run by its two founders through PrepProviders Ltd, company number 17506020, registered in England and Wales. Its registered office is Celtic House, 11-12 Neptune Court, Vanguard Way, Cardiff, CF24 5PJ, United Kingdom. PrepProviders is a comparison site for CFA® and FRM® exam prep providers and earns commission from some of the providers it links to. PrepProviders Ltd is the data controller for everything this page describes. Write to contact@prepproviders.com with any question about it.
What we do not collect
- No account, no sign-up and no email address. The quiz asks for none.
- No cookies that track you, nothing stored in your browser, and no advertising or third-party scripts. The one cookie we can set is described under Cookies below, and it only ever reduces what we count.
- Your quiz answers travel in the page address so that the result page can read them. We do not store them, apart from your exam level and the two providers we matched you to.
What we collect, and why
We collect enough to count visits, to see which pages and which sources bring readers, and to be paid for the referrals the site makes. Nothing we keep identifies you.
- We count page views and the steps of the quiz with a small script of our own, without cookies. To tell one visit from another on the same day, our server makes a code from your IP address, your browser's details and a random value that changes every day. The random value is deleted after its day. We never store your IP address or your browser's details, so the code cannot be traced back to you.
- Each record holds the page, the site you came from, any campaign tag in the link, whether you are on a phone or a computer, the app you opened the page in if it has its own browser, and the country Cloudflare reports for your connection. It also holds how far down the page you scrolled, which parts you looked at and for how long, which of our own links and buttons you pressed, and which quiz questions you answered. It never holds the answers you chose. On the results page it holds your exam level and the two providers we matched you to.
- For each visit we keep where it started: the first page, the site you came from and any campaign tag.
- When you click through to a provider, we keep a permanent record of the click. It holds the provider, where the link sat on our page, where your visit started, any campaign tag, your country and whether you are on a phone or a computer. It lets us match clicks to the sales a provider reports to us.
- When a provider reports a sale that came through our links, we record the date, the amount, the commission and the provider's own reference for the order. We do not record your name or your email address.
- If you write to contact@prepproviders.com, we hold your message and your email address for as long as we need them to answer you and act on what you told us. We do not add you to any list.
- Cloudflare hosts the site. To deliver pages and block attacks it processes your IP address and request details under its own privacy policy, and keeps its standard logs for a limited time. If something on our site fails, Cloudflare keeps an error log for us for a few days, with the part of the address that would carry quiz answers removed.
Our lawful basis under UK data protection law is legitimate interests: running the site, improving it, and being paid for the referrals it makes, in a way that keeps nothing that identifies you.

Where it is kept
Cloudflare, a US company, serves the site from whichever of its data centres is nearest you, which may be outside the UK. The records we keep are stored in Cloudflare's Western Europe region. Cloudflare's own privacy policy and the safeguards it publishes apply to its processing.
Cookies
We set one cookie, and only if you ask for it. Opening /api/exclude/?set=on marks your device so that its visits, quiz steps and clicks are left out of our counts. We use it on our own devices, so that our testing does not count as visitors. It holds the value 1 and nothing else, lasts a year, is sent only to this site, cannot be read by scripts, and is removed by opening /api/exclude/?set=off. Nothing else is stored in your browser, and there is no banner because nothing here needs consent. A provider may set a cookie on its own site after you click through, so that a purchase can be credited to us. That happens on the provider's site, under the provider's own privacy policy, not ours.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask what personal data we hold about you, and ask for it to be corrected, deleted or restricted, object to how it is used, or ask for a copy of it. Because we hold nothing that identifies you, there will usually be nothing to find. Write to contact@prepproviders.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
When the site starts doing something new with your data, this page changes on the same day, and the date below changes with it.
